President
Dr. Laney Knowlton (she/her/hers), LMFT-S, CST, CSAT-S, CPTT-S, CCPS, CCRDS-S, has worked in the mental health field since 2009 and specializes in recovery from Problematic Sexual Behaviors (PSB), betrayal, and sexual abuse. She holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a PhD in Clinical Sexology. She is the creator of the Connected Recovery™ model—an integrative, attachment-focused, trauma-informed framework that bridges PSB treatment, betrayal recovery, relational therapy, and sex therapy. She has authored multiple books based on the Connected Recovery™ model and contributed a chapter on this approach to Contemporary Issues in Human Services, edited by James Wadley. She is a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in multiple states, an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, and an international presenter, author, and educator. Dr. Knowlton owns and directs Connected Recovery™ Training, co-owns NorthStar Relational Consulting, and owns Knowlton Counseling in the Dallas, Texas area.

Multi-award winning author, clinician, and educator Stefani Goerlich describes herself as an expert on the edges and a bridge builder between the margins and the mainstream.
An expert in working with Gender, Relationship, and Sexuality Differences, Stefani is a Forensic Social Worker, Certified Sex Therapist, Board Certified Diplomate of Sexology and an expert voice for Cosmopolitan, The New Yorker, The New York Post, Teen Vogue, The BBC, Shape, Women's Health, Marie Claire, The American Spectator, and many more.
Stefani is a member of the teaching faculty at University of Michigan’s Sexual Health Certificate Program and University of Minnesota's Eli Coleman Institute for Sexual and Gender Health, and a popular conference presenter and podcast guest. Her four books on BDSM/kink and mental health are required reading in sexual health training programs around the world.
Kervins Clement

Kervins Clement
Treasurer
Kervins Clement provides clinical mental health services for individuals, couples and families. He specializes in addiction, particularly sex addiction, and has been trained within a variety of modalities, including Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, EMDR, and Sex Addiction. Kervins is currently completing his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where his dissertation focuses on addressing the unique experiences of Black men undergoing sex addiction treatment.
In addition to his academic work, Kervins is the owner of Clement Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, a private practice that provides clinical and educational services to individuals across North Carolina, with a particular focus on the Piedmont Triad region. Renowned for his expertise in culturally responsive treatment, Kervins is committed to fostering understanding and equity in mental health care.

Brandy Seignemartin (she/her), is a program developer, educator, and trauma‑informed clinician that specializes in play therapy, betrayed‑partner recovery and the integration of play therapy and EMDR into addiction and relational healing. Brandy holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix, with advanced training in EMDR, play therapy, and trauma‑focused modalities. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ and non‑monogamous communities, she brings lived experience and cultural attunement to her work with diverse relationship systems. She has presented locally and at the university level on diverse relationship systems. She is committed to expanding the field’s understanding of how identity, culture, and relationship structure shape the healing process.Brandy is known for her ability to bridge creative, experiential modalities with established recovery models, helping clients access the preverbal and symbolic layers of trauma that talk therapy alone cannot reach. She is passionate about education and advocacy, helping clinicians build competencies in diverse relationship world views while fostering affirming care for LGBTQIA+ clients and relationally diverse systems.

Dr. Borgogna is a licensed clinical psychologist interested in the treatment of psychopathology. He studies various mental illness interventions, primarily through original lab clinical trials and systematic review/meta-analysis. While he examines many psychological problems, he has particular research and clinical expertise in addiction, trauma, and compulsivity, with an emphasis in sexual health and compulsivity.

With a master’s in public administration emphasizing healthcare management and predictive analytics, Edward’s career reflects extensive contributions to public health initiatives, grant management, and private-sector healthcare. His multifaceted expertise spans clinical and business operations, strategic planning—an impressive portfolio that underscores his capacity to drive meaningful change in treatment delivery and outcomes.
As President of the Begin Again Institute, Edward champions forward-thinking approaches to addressing problematic sexual behaviors. His leadership reflects a steadfast commitment to innovative care and collaborative community support—an embodiment of his personal mission to “create a community to help heal a community”.
As a member of the Board, Edward brings a forward-thinking perspective and a dedication to improving outcomes for individuals and communities affected by problematic sexual behavior.

Shane W. Kraus is a licensed clinical psychologist and expert in psychopathology, sexual trauma, substance use, gambling disorder, and compulsive sexual behavior disorder. An associate professor of psychology, Dr. Kraus has published over 200 scholarly works on substance use disorders/behavioral addictions, psychopathology, compulsive sexual behavior, and trauma. Dr. Kraus received his PhD in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University in 2013. He completed his postdoctoral addiction psychology fellowship at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System and Yale School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry in 2015.

Randall McDaniel is a graduate student at Ottawa University, working toward a degree in professional counseling. He balances his studies with a full-time role as the Marketing and Special Projects Manager at the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). Notably, he played a key role in launching the Rainbow Advocate and Educator Program, reflecting his commitment to advocacy and education.
When he's not working or studying, Randall dedicates his time to personal growth and fun. Whether he's perfecting his kickboxing techniques, exploring new destinations, or enjoying the company of his spirited border collie, Buddy, Randall embraces every opportunity for learning and adventure.

Kerrigan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate located in Highland Village, Texas, specializing in sex therapy, couples therapy, and infidelity. With a background in private practice and a passion for promoting sexual health and relational well-being, she brings valuable insight to her role at the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH).
In addition to her clinical expertise, Kerrigan has a strong administrative background, combining organizational skills with a deep understanding of the needs of individuals and communities seeking sexual health resources. As Executive Assistant, she supports the mission of SASH by streamlining operations, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the organization’s continued growth and impact.
Kerrigan has extensive experience engaging with diverse clients and professionals. She is dedicated to lifelong learning and advocating for healthy, informed conversations around sexuality and relationships.

Zahraa Alrafish is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Wayne State University. She has a strong passion for advocacy, human rights, and supporting underserved communities; and is excited to grow professionally and to contribute to meaningful and impactful work through this opportunity with SASH. Zahraa will be assisting with our social media and member engagement efforts for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Micala Cagle is a second-year Master of Social Work student at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, with a concentration in interpersonal practice. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Honors from Wayne State in December 2023. Micala’s passion for mental health, relational well-being, and inclusive care has been shaped by her professional experiences working with students of various ages and diverse backgrounds. Outside of academia, Micala is a competitive dance instructor and choreographer with six years of experience, using movement to promote self-expression, empowerment, and connection. Micala is excited to join SASH as an intern and contribute to research, community dialogue, and education in a new and meaningful way. Micala will be assisting with grant research and fund development efforts for the 2025-2026 academic year.
