A Mindful Approach to Addiction & Trauma Therapy

The TMAATT faculty are experienced and encouraging mindfulness based clinical therapists. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, inspiring, research-based mindfulness training to addiction and trauma therapists around the world. We are dedicated to helping mental health professionals learn how to incorporate mindfulness tools and techniques as they support their clients in long term recovery, growth and healing.

Certified Mindfulness Based Addiction Trauma Therapist (MBATT) have advanced training in researched-based mindfulness approaches and have learned specific techniques and applications in supporting addicts to reduce relapse and increase healing and growth in long term sobriety.

In addition, MBATT therapists have been trained in working with the betrayed partners and family members of addicts. MBATT therapists work with the spouse or loved ones to reduce trauma triggers through specific treatment planning that enhances CBT work, with a focus on mindfulness-based clinical support.

Darrin Ford, LMFT, CSAT-S, CPTT-S, MBATT-CS

FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Darrin Ford, LMFT, CSAT-S, CPTT-S, MBATT-CS is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor, a Gottman trained couples therapist, and is certified by The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists as a Clinical Supervisor of Associate Therapists.

As founder of Mindful Centers, he has integrated mindfulness into the treatment of those struggling with addiction and trauma. He has also worked mentoring therapists in the utilization of mindfulness and the development of their private practice.

In addition Darrin is a nationally recognized speaker and internationally published author. His books include,"Awakening from the Sexually Addicted Mind,” co-author to “Transforming the Addictive Mind,” and co-author to “The Recovery Coach Client Handbook.”

Darrin is an instructor for MBATT Levels I-III.

Mari A. Lee, LMFT, CSAT-S, CPPT-S, MBATT-CS

Senior Faculty Member & Senior Consulting Supervisor
Mari A. Lee is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who is recognized for her clinical and mindfulness-based work with sex addicts, betrayed spouses, and couples healing from infidelity.

Mari is also the founder of Growth Counseling Services located in Glendora, California where she helps individuals and couples heal from addiction and betrayal trauma and complex trauma. She is a Certified Mindfulness Based Addiction Therapist and Supervisor (MBATT-CS), a Gottman trained couples’ therapist, an EMDR trained therapist, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor (CSAT-S), a Certified Partners Trauma Therapist and Supervisor, (CPTT-S), and is a member of the faculty and ethics board with the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals.

Additionally, Mari is a trusted business coach and supervisor with 32 years of business experience. She is the founder of The Counselor’s Coach and provides coaching, consulting, supervision, clinical materials, and dedicated support to mental health professionals across the U.S. and around the world.

Finally, Mari is a popular national speaker and keynote on topics of addiction, betrayal trauma and women’s issues. She is the co-author of ,“Facing Heartbreak: Steps to Recovery for Partners of Sex Addicts”, and the author of, “Healing Betrayal”, and "The Creative Clinician”, and a contributing author to “Behavioral Addictions: Criteria, Evidence and Treatment.” Her next book, “The Gift in the Wound: Stories of Resiliency and Hope” will be out in 2022.
