Identity-Affirming Care | We Treat People Not Problems

We help people overcome a range of sexual issues including, sexual compulsivity, hypersexual behavior, intimacy anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, gender and orientation confusion, and childhood sexual abuse. In addition to psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups, we provide support for the partners of those who struggle with out-of-control behaviors. We are thought leaders in the field of sex addiction, conducting cutting-edge research, presenting trainings and workshops around the country, as well as publishing extensively on this topic. Some team members are organizational psychologists and provide workplace interventions and programs as well.
We look at our patients as people, not as problems, and work with each person differently. No two patients are alike, and while we have a lot of experience with certain types of problems, there is no one way we work. That said, there are some common features to our approach: we prioritize your safety and confidentiality. We do not judge. We provide empathy and work hard to understand not just what you do, but who you are, what matters to you, and what it is that you find most challenging.
Our world is in a crisis of connection, perhaps even more so as a result of the pandemic. We’re committed to helping our clients change their dissociative patterns and relieve the cycle of shame that so often accompanies out-of-control behaviors. Trauma disconnects us from the deepest parts of ourselves. At The SAT Project, we seek to help people who are suffering find their way home.

Michael Crocker - DSW, LCSW, MA

Michael Crocker - DSW, LCSW, MA He/Him Languages Spoken: English Services Offered: Individual, Couples, and Group Therapy MICHAEL'S WEBSITE EMAIL: [email protected] I am a certified individual and group psychotherapist who works with individuals who struggle with behaviors that they feel have gotten out of control which can include sex, eating, substance use as well as gambling and other money-related difficulties. I believe that behaviors that feel out of control are related to feelings that are often unidentified and then turned into actions, often outside of our awareness. I believe that the affect of shame is highly related to many out-of-control behaviors. Shame can be conscious and/or unconscious. I help my clients to develop an awareness of their shame, as well as other feelings, in order for them to use the feeling states in the service of directing their actions consciously and purposefully. Many feeling states that are turned into action are blends of feelings such as shame mixed with fear or shame mixed with anger. I help my clients to understand the complexity of these emotional states. I purposely collaborate with my clients to study their behaviors and decode what underlies these actions. In doing so, we are able to create the opportunity for choice and volition. This in turn enhances self-esteem and allows my clients to find for the first time or, in some cases, re-find their connection to creativity, play, and relational connectivity.

Anastasia Sielski - LMSW

Anastasia Sielski - LMSW She/Her Languages Spoken: Spanish (lee abajo)/English Services Offered: Individual and Couples Therapy EMAIL: [email protected] Hi there, I’m Anastasia. I draw on my experience growing up as a queer, Hispanic New Yorker to provide social justice-informed trauma therapy. My approach is anti-racist, centering you and your needs. I am also LGBTQ and kink/BDSM affirming. In our work together you'll have the emotional space to safely and creatively explore your authentic self as well as identify areas of growth. Everyone's journey to treatment is different. At first, it may feel uncomfortable and even challenging. But I believe our identities are sources of strength and we can all find the courage to change patterns that no longer serve us.I have an MSW from Columbia University’s School of Social Work. My clinical lens is primarily psychodynamic. I also incorporate aspects of CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and Motivational Interviewing depending on your needs. In addition to my eclectic therapeutic style, I’ll bring energy, curiosity, and humor to our relationship. I look forward to meeting you so we can get to work! ¡Hola! Soy Anastasia Sielski.
